The song of a prophet

Writer: Jubilee LipseyJubilee Lipsey

"And immediately, his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, blessing God. And fear came on all their neighbors. And all these things were talked about through all the hill country of Judea, and all who heard them laid them up in their hearts saying, 'What then will this child be?' For the hand of the Lord was with him. And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied..."

--Luke 1:57-80

Zechariah

His shofar’s blast has pierced the dark.

His faithful love and kindness mark

Our paths of peace

And fearless knowing,

Tender plants of mercy growing.

Salvation’s Hand has brought forgiveness,

Truth Himself has visited us.

He feeds us hope that we might live

And join His song with praise to give.

Prophecies of life spring forth

To the east, west, south, and north.

The promise stands to bless our land.

We won’t shrink back; we will expand.

Our way is light,

Our hearts made right,

Redemption’s song turned

Fight.
